Being of Greek Cypriot descent, Briar has long been passionate about Greek music. In New Zealand she began a Greek Rembetiko band with two other musicians called 'Hypnos', where she learned how to read and sing a number of Greek songs. She has now lived in Greece for more than three years and speaks Greek, continuing to learn more and more about the fascinating and diverse field of Greek music. As a vocalist she is particularly focused on learning the Greek style of singing and through her practice, has to launched a YouTube channel exclusively for her own interpretations of Greek folk songs.
